FAqs

Is York Barn available for exclusive use?

We only host two weddings per week to ensure exclusive use of York Barn for you and your guests. No other weddings will take place the day before, on your wedding day or the day after. If you would like exclusive use of all our grounds including cottages, you will need to book all Villa Farm Cottages. Please note, this is not a requirement for booking York Barn.

Are we licensed for ceremonies?

York Barn is licensed to hold legal civil ceremonies, both inside York Barn and outside under our garden pergola.

How many guests can York Barn hold for ceremony and wedding breakfast?

A maximum of 150 guests.

​

How many guests can York Barn accommodate for the evening reception?

A maximum of 220 guests.

​

Are tables and chairs included in the hire price?

Yes! You have the option of our traditional 5.6ft round tables (seat up to 12) or our

farmhouse rustic tables (seat up to 10) and our cross back rustic chairs.

 

What time do we have access to York Barn?

You will have access from 12 PM the day before your wedding, until 12 PM the day after.

 

Do we have to use York Barn's recommended caterers?

We strongly believe a remarkable caterer is a must for your big day and this is why we ask you to use one of our six trusted caterers. Our partnered caterers offer a variety of options; from laid-back barbecues, high-quality street food to three-course fine dining.

Is a DJ included in the cost?

The cost of the DJ is included in our wedding package and is provided through Hi-life Entertainment.

Is accommodation available?

We have 13 cottages on site sleeping a maximum of 113 guests.

Can I have candles?

Candles must be placed in a candle holder, whereas the naked flame is not exposed. For example, a tea light candle in a jam jar is acceptable. Please note, we also do not accept liability of damage or harm from using candles. We recommend battery candles where possible.

 

Can we use confetti?

All confetti used must be biodegradable.

Do you allow smoke bombs and/or sparklers?

Yes, all the above can be used on our site. Firework displays must be provided through an approved supplier.

Can we use firepits?

You are welcome to use firepits. These need to be provided by you. We would have to agree on a location away from the main building and you will need to provide a heat-resistant mat to go on the lawn area. 

​

Are you dog-friendly?

We do allow dogs on-site, however, they must be on a lead and chaperoned at all times.

Pets can not be left unattended in our accommodation.

Is there free parking available on site?

Yes, we have ample parking available to all guests.

​

Can cars be left overnight?

Yes, although please note York Barn does not accept any liability of any loss or damage to vehicles left on the premises. This is also the case for any supplier vehicles including caterers, photographers and entertainers during the period of hire.

Can suppliers come and view the venue? Is this an additional charge?

We encourage your suppliers to come and view the venue before the wedding day if feasible. We ask for any visits to be arranged with our wedding team to ensure visits fit around our availability. There is no charge for supplier visits.

Does York Barn have a licensed bar?

Yes, the bar and staff for your big day are included in the wedding package. Drink packages available on request.

 

What alcohol do you have on draught?

We have four options on draught; Birra Moretti, Amstel, Old Mout Berries & Cherries Cider and Theakston Pale Ale.

 

Can we supply our own alcohol?

All drinks must be purchased through York Barn's licensed bar. Please be assured we offer highly competitive prices with a large selection of drinks to choose from.

 

What time does the bar open and close?

We provide a licensed bar on your wedding day from 12 noon until midnight.

 

Can I have a live band at the wedding?

Yes, once you have booked your band, we ask you to provide us with their details so our wedding team can contact them directly to ensure they can provide in date insurance documents and PAT testing certificates. We will also work with them to organise all the logistics for your big day.

 

What time does music have to finish?

Music must finish at 00:00.

 

What time does the venue close?

York Barn closes at midnight

 

Do we have to pack everything up at the end of the night?

Not at all, your personal decorations are safe in our York Barn for you to come and collect the following day. Please ensure you take your personal belongings and valuables e.g. mobile phones, purse, wallet, wedding gifts and any technical devices with you.
